This is such a pretty little town full of characters from the butcher who drove from Noosa, 1,100 kilometers, to check out the place, stayed and then brought over his family to the chap from South Africa who opened a coffee shop in an old building that has been reinvented. The Cunnamulla Fella statue is in the center of town, a reminder of the young jackeroos who worked around the town on cattle and sheep stations as well as serving as a tribute to Slim Dusty who is well loved around these parts.
The owners of the caravan park are very friendly, ready to help and run one of the best laid out parks we have ever stayed in. Happy hour is a great idea for us travellers to get together and swap travel stories or just have a good old chin wag. Shane has been trying to catch an edible fish in the Warego River but no luck as yet. Not to worry its very peaceful and relaxing with the weather almost perfect around 24 degrees.
“Well I’m a scrubber runner and a breaker too,
I lived on damper and wallaby stew,
I’ve got a big cattle dog with a staghound’s cross,
I never saw the scrubber he couldn’t toss,
Cause I’m the fella from Cunnamulla
Yes I’m the Cunnamulla Fella”
